A Recall page in the sidebar, and search that learns on your computer from the results you open.
changed - New Recall page in the sidebar: an aggregate view of what your profile remembers, and a “Connect an AI app” section to connect AI apps over MCP. MCP search stays off by default.
- Search learns on your computer from the results you open. What it learns stays on your computer.
- Better matching of plurals and word forms in English.
fixed - A fix for searches that name two people.
- Clicking Find in the sidebar no longer interrupts a search in progress.
notes - Search is English only for now.
Fry as a local MCP server for your AI apps, hidden folders included, one keychain prompt on Mac.
changed - Hidden folders are now included by default. A toggle in Settings turns them off.
- Local MCP server: AI apps you allow, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor and other MCP apps (stdio), can read your aggregate Recall profile and, if you opt in, search through Fry. Off by default and set per app; search is a separate opt-in. Fry must be running, nothing works in Paranoid mode, and every call is audited. Results and snippets an AI app receives go to its AI provider, unless the AI runs locally, for example with Ollama.
- On Mac: a single keychain password prompt per launch or update instead of several.
Update on click from askfry.com, and a new app id. Mac (Apple Silicon); Windows x64 build available.
changed - Update button at the bottom left of the sidebar. One click asks for a newer version; after you confirm, it downloads, installs and restarts. It shares one updater with Settings › Updates & About. Still never checks on its own, and off in Paranoid mode.
- Updates now come from askfry.com/updates/latest.json, with packages served from askfry.com. Every update is still verified against the same signing key.
- Find reaches the document behind a Slack thread reply: a Google Drive or Docs link in a found Slack message appears as its own result, and Find looks inside found threads for the replies of the person you named.
- Google Drive search asks for every word of your search in the file text, not just the title.
- A typed full name is treated as one person; small surname typos are forgiven, and namesakes rank below the person you meant.
- Short words (abbreviations, short names) are learned from your results and the files you open.
- Mac: one Keychain item for all tokens and keys instead of one per account, so an update asks for your password at most once.
- New app id com.askfry.fry (was co.quantumlabs.fry). The installed app is still named Fry. Your data folder, settings and connected accounts stay where they are.
notes - Mac: macOS treats the new app id as a new app, so grant Full Disk Access and the microphone again once.
- Windows x64 build available.
- Beta builds aren't signed by Apple or code-signed for Windows yet.
First public beta: Find on macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows x64.
changed - Downloads for Apple Silicon Macs (.dmg) and Windows 10/11 x64 (installer) at askfry.com/beta.
- Anonymous, allowlisted usage counts, on by default. Opt out on the first-launch screen or anytime in Settings › Privacy › Usage stats; “See what we send” lists every event and field. None in Paranoid mode. Never your searches, file names, paths, accounts or message text.
notes - On 1.0.64 or earlier? Those builds can't see the new feed: install 1.0.65 once by hand.
- Beta builds aren't signed by Apple or code-signed for Windows yet. The download page shows how to open them the first time.
